Introduction to Revelation

A revelation* from Jesus, the anointed Messiah, that God* gave him, to show His servants what events must occur hastily*, in a very short span of time.

I, John, set apart by God, to bare witness of what I know concerning the Word of God and the evidence of Jesus, the anointed Messiah; by means of signs and symbols had the revelation shown to me by God’s angel.

Blessed am I to see and hear The Word* prophesying again and to preserve the prophecy myself in writing, because the time of the prophecy is near.

I, John, the Apostle to the seven called-out churches* in Asia, say, “Grace to you and peace” from the Son who is, and who was and who is to come out of the presence of the seven spirits* who are before His throne. Indeed, come Jesus, the anointed Messiah; the faithful martyr, the firstborn from the dead and the first King of the Earth.  He who loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood.  He who then made us magistrate kings and priests* for His own Father.  To Him be glory, and power forever and ever.  Amen

Be confident! He will come again amidst the clouds and all eyes will gaze wide eyed at Him, as at something remarkable. And whomever has been betwixt (made indecisive) himself, and all the kindred of the Earth, will mourn and beat their chests in grief before Him.  Even so, Amen.

I, John, your brethren and co-participant in affliction and persecution, and in royalty; patiently awaiting Jesus, the anointed Messiah; arose in prominence on an island called Patmos for the sake of the Word of God, and for the sake of witnessed testimony of Jesus, the anointed Messiah.

On the Lord’s day, I became aroused in my spirit (Spirit) and heard behind me a great voice, like a trumpet, saying, ….

As I turned to look at the voice who spoke to me, I saw seven lamp-stands made of gold. In the middle of the seven lamp-stands stood someone like the Son of Man.  He was clothed in a garment down to his ankles and fastened all around under his chest with a golden belt. His head and hair were white like wool, white as snow. His eyes blazed fire, like lightning, and his feet resembled brilliant, shining gold and silver alloy, glowing as if refined in a furnace. His voice was the sound of a great, abundant rain shower. And he held in the hollow of his right hand seven stars; and from his mouth proceeded a swift (sharp) double-edged sword.  He appeared as the Eastern sun appears in its miraculous power.

And when I saw him, I fell forward at his feet as dead. Then, he laid the hollow of his right hand upon me, saying to me….

“The mystery of the seven stars which you see in my right hand, and the seven lamp-stands of gold is this: The seven stars are messengers (angels) to the seven called-out congregations: and the seven lamp-stands which you see are the seven called-out congregations”.
